They are FINALLY here!

A few months ago two people designed in their head a different space in the centre of Bilbao, a space to relax, to have an enjoyable time with your friends and family and to toast with them at special times, but also a place to celebrate different company events. That design was materialized in paper and a few days ago opened their doors to the public. Its name is TXOKO NORDISK.

Do you know what is it about?

María Fernández: a combination of illusion and passion

Our protagonist of the day lives in Sopuerta, a small town of Biscay. She is a young woman, mother of two, who has been strating up business since 2006. For me, without any doubt, she is an entrepreneurial woman but, as she says, working with “picks and shovels” (a Spanish expression). A woman who has experienced in first person the ups and downs like the ones from a Ferris wheel, which is how we identify the entrepreneurial adventure.

What about a pop-up?

More than a decade ago, in countries like the USA, with New York in the lead, or the United Kingdom, with London as one of the mirror-cities to look to, people started talking about the pop-up shops. It was a fashion concept that started being successful among prestigious chefs, big designers or new entrepreneurs who wanted to put themselves and their creations out there. From my tour around them I take some E.P. that I want to present you. I want to take this opportunity to introduce them to you, although I hope to talk about them more closely in future posts. Will you accompany me? (more…)

Thank goodness, I didn’t miss it!

Last Thursday, the 16th of November, the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación del País Vasco (the Official Association of Telecommunication Engineers of the Basque Country) started the celebration of the 50 years of the Association with an event at street level, none other than at the Zubiarte Shopping Centre, in Bilbao.

There I was to support them, mainly because I know “a little” their dean, Álvaro Ubierna, of whom I have told you before. For me, without any doubt, an E.P.

I have to admit that, the fact that the Official Association of Engineers was celebrating their anniversary in a space reserved for fashion supresied me. I have to tell you the night was getting better by the minute. Do you want to know what this type of event has to do with a blog about entrepreneurship? I encourage you to keep reading. (more…)
