A few months ago two people designed in their head a different space in the centre of Bilbao, a space to relax, to have an enjoyable time with your friends and family and to toast with them at special times, but also a place to celebrate different company events. That design was materialized in paper and a few days ago opened their doors to the public. Its name is TXOKO NORDISK.
Do you know what is it about?
On Wednesday the 21st of June, my first doctoral student (already a PhD) Nerea Sáenz defended the thesis entitled: La formación en emprendimiento social en la educación superior: competencias, metodologías de enseñanza-aprendizaje e instrumentos de evaluación. Estudio de casos en dos universidades europeas. (Training in social entrepreneurship in higher education: competencies, teaching and learning methodologies and assessment tools. Study of the cases in two European universities).

Do you know what a runner, an alpinist, a pianist and a neurologist do together in a room, surrounded by approximately 450 people, most of them between 15 and 18, coming from 7 different schools of Bilbao and surrounding area? You can think about it for a while or read this post and find it out.

Napoleon Hill said that it is literally true that you can succeed better and faster by helping others to succeed. I’m not 100% sure that that was what the MET Community founder, Yanire Braña, thought when, a few years ago, she decided to create this organization. But I don’t think I’m wrong if I say that she probably agrees with me if, in addition, I tell her that success for me is the progressive realization of a dream. Today will not be the first or last time I tell you about a case of social entrepreneurship. One of the main reasons why I do this is for the purpose that this kind of initiatives are looking for. If something identifies the social entrepreneurship is that, among others, it is oriented to the creation of social or environmentallly friendly value through the proposal of new challenges and opportunities that, at the same time, have an impact on society, especially in groups in social exclusion or neglected by conventional social and economic institutions.
