Mañana, so when?

A couple of weeks ago or so, a member of the Mañana team, an initiative led by IFEMA together with Barrabés.biz and promoted by ENISA contacted me. I could not pay much attention to it until a few days ago. The truth is that I would have liked to have had more time to browse their website a little more carefully, but time is what it is, so, although later than expected, here I am to tell you about this initiative that has to do with all of us, whether we are entrepreneurs or not.

ANA FREIRE, making the woman who “Wisibiliza”s women visible herself

Last 16th of May I attended the Ada Byron Awards 2019 to the female technologist in its 6th edition, which was also the opening of the 7th edition of ForoTech.

The Ada Byron Award to the Technologist Women, pioneer at a national level (and which has gone international with this year’s presentation of the Mexican edition), was instituted by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto. Its goals are: to reward and raise awareness of the excellent journey of technologist women of today; to enrich society with technology-diffusing events; to promote technological vocations (especially of women) approaching the technological work to young people; and to make the importance of technology socially visible.

The thing is that on that day I was able to meet the winners of the Ada Byron award: two exceptional women who are a role model in the technology world, Concepción Alicia Monje Micharet and Ana Freire (chosen Youth Ada Byron Award by unanimity). The jury had it more difficult than other years since there were around 112 candidates, active professionals in the academic and business world in the fields of engineering, informatics, chemical sciences, physics and mathematics. The candidates were between 36 y 67 years old, and between 24 and 36 for the Youth Award.

Today I want to talk to you more about Ana Freire, rewarded with the Youth Ada Byron Award, do you want to know why? You just have to keep reading.

I am number 243

In September of 2016, 17 mentors, 11 schools and around 200 girls embarked on a pioneer project in Euskadi, one of those projects designed on a paper napkin and that holds fundamental values and ideas. Today, I bring you an entrepreneurial initiative of the educational area, which is born at the University of Deusto, guided by Andoni Eguiluz and Lorena Fernández, professor-researcher and Director of Digital Identity of the University of Deusto, respectively.

Do you know which project I’m talking about? I’ll give you a hint: inspire. (more…)

Last Thursday 1st of December 2016, I was able to attend the 2nd Education, Future and Technology Forum (XLDesafío), which took place at the University of Deusto, a cycle of forums about education organized by the magazine XLSemanal together with the Telefónica Foundation and Human Age Institute, in collaboration with Air Europa. The issue to discuss was the big challenges of education on the 21st century. Our entrepreneur and protagonist of this post, Cristina Balbás, was there.

If you are interested in the future and its development, I encourage you to dedicate a few minutes to what Cristina and her team of entrepreneurs are suggesting us. (more…)
