Wanted Teacherpreneurs

Today, I would like to take this opportunity to share with all of you the 1st Teacherpreneur Award for Primary Education, launched by the Faculty of Education and Sport at the University of Deusto, thanks to the Teaching Innovation Unit.

The aim of this call is to:

El objetivo de esta convocatoria es:

Empower, make visible and reward teachers in educational centres in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country (CAPV) with an entrepreneurial mindset.

This is a call for proposals that I am particularly excited about, based on the conviction that in the CAPV (as in other territories) we have teachers who have an entrepreneurial mindset and who apply it in their schools, with their students and, I am sure, with some of their colleagues.

Primary school teachers in the Basque Autonomous Community who are interested in taking part will need to fill in a simple self-assessment questionnaire and justify their answers either through a video or a written reflection.

The video or written reflection should justify the entrepreneurial mindset by:

  • describing actions or experiences that support it (teaching practice developed);
  • explaining the impact of these actions on students;
  • or linking the actions to the areas of the questionnaire answered by the candidate team or individual.

The presentation will also be taken into account – how innovative it is; the message transmitted (clarity and structure); the quality of the video (even if we are not professionals); and, of course, the passion and enthusiasm shown.

Applications can be made individually or as a group. In the case of group applications, the questionnaire only needs to be completed once.

The final evaluation of the proposals will be carried out through an analysis of the actions (number and type) presented by the team or candidates; the impact these have had on the school community (internal level) or society (external level); their level of sustainability; and the number of areas represented in the team or candidates (of the three presented in the questionnaire).

A winner (individual or team) will be selected from among the candidates, who will receive, among other things, a cash prize of €500 thanks to the University of Deusto and, specifically, the Teaching Innovation Unit.

I am sharing the terms and conditions of the call for applications for further information: : Spanish y Basque.

Obviously, I strongly encourage you to participate and to pass this on to any primary school teachers in the Basque Autonomous Community whom you know and who have that entrepreneurial spirit, which we know many of them have.

Ah, by the way, you have until 28 February 2026 to submit your applications.

If you have any questions, please contact me, Arantza Arruti: aarruti@deusto.es, or my colleague Jessica Paños: jessicapanos@deusto.es We will be more than happy to answer your questions.

December is just around the corner, and the year is coming to an end!!!!!!
