The breakfast burger

On Wednesday the 3rd of June, the second session of the live interviews cycle of Inspira STEAM at home took place, whose aim is to give visibility to female scientists and technologists. I have already talked to you about Inspira STEAM before, but not about today’s protagonist. She is an 18-year-old researcher, inventor, and entrepreneur, who is currently studying her second year of Medicine.

Do you want to know a bit more about this woman? Keep reading. (more…)

FLL Junior: Boosting the energy

Last 8th of February, the University of Deusto was transformed for a few hours to host an event that, after 10 years, was held for the first time in three different headquarters: Bilbao, Mondragón and San Sebastián. I’m talking about the FLL Euskadi, which I’ve already talked about more than once. This time, for some people, this edition has been very special. For me, apart from being a pleasure, it has also been a challenge that has boosted my energy and has made me trust much more in our new entrepreneurs generations, who have fresh ideas.  (more…)

ANA FREIRE, making the woman who “Wisibiliza”s women visible herself

Last 16th of May I attended the Ada Byron Awards 2019 to the female technologist in its 6th edition, which was also the opening of the 7th edition of ForoTech.

The Ada Byron Award to the Technologist Women, pioneer at a national level (and which has gone international with this year’s presentation of the Mexican edition), was instituted by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto. Its goals are: to reward and raise awareness of the excellent journey of technologist women of today; to enrich society with technology-diffusing events; to promote technological vocations (especially of women) approaching the technological work to young people; and to make the importance of technology socially visible.

The thing is that on that day I was able to meet the winners of the Ada Byron award: two exceptional women who are a role model in the technology world, Concepción Alicia Monje Micharet and Ana Freire (chosen Youth Ada Byron Award by unanimity). The jury had it more difficult than other years since there were around 112 candidates, active professionals in the academic and business world in the fields of engineering, informatics, chemical sciences, physics and mathematics. The candidates were between 36 y 67 years old, and between 24 and 36 for the Youth Award.

Today I want to talk to you more about Ana Freire, rewarded with the Youth Ada Byron Award, do you want to know why? You just have to keep reading.

Challenges to me?, asks an EIPTE student

Last week was particularly important to me. Within the Erasmus + EIPTE (Entrepreneurship in Initial Primary Teacher Education) project and from the Faculty I belong to, the Faculty of Psychology and Education of the University of Deusto, I organized the 3rd intensive week of the project. I admit that it took me so long, much longer than I hoped for, but it helped me realize what organizing a week like this means and that if you believe that you can and you make an effort to do so, everything is possible. Besides, the results were worth it, the atmosphere was even more and the company was excellent. I want to use this post to thank the people who have supported us and have made this week to be considered a success (they know who they are). I also want to present you the numbers and data that reflect a part of what the week of the 1st to the 5th of April has meant for the entrepreneurial education and the training of teacherpreneurs (in this occasion, students from the degree of Primary Education of 6 institutions, included the University of Deusto). I wish we keep having these opportunities because entrepreneurship, education and the children of primary school deserve it. (more…)
